The Best Sugar Cookie Recipe

If you're looking for a good soft sugar cookie recipe this is the one. I got this from a friend who got if from someone who tried about 12 different recipes looking for just the right one. Just make sure you don't over bake these. They don't have to be chilled before, but it does help it not be so sticky. The consistency will seem really runny and sticky, but only add enough flour to make them workable. They really taste good if you cook them and freeze the leftovers unfrosted, then just pull out what you need. They really stay moist that way. They are really light and airy and almost melt in your mouth when you eat them. Hope you like these as much as we do. Happy Baking!

Cream together:

1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla or almond
1/4 cup sour cream

Mix dry ingredients and add to sugar mixture:

1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/4 tsp baking soda
4 tsp baking powder
4 1/2 -5 cups flour

Mixture will be sticky, use a little more flour if needed, but not much. Roll out 1/2-3/4 inch thick and cut out. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 350 for 10 minutes. Don't overcook. Frost with Wilton frosting when cooled.

Wilton Frosting( Very Delicious with these cookies)

1/2 c. softened real butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp almond extract or vanilla(best with almond)
4 cups powdered sugar
2 Tbsp milk

Cream butter, shortening, and extract. Add 1 cup at a time of powdered sugar. Add milk to desired consistency. Whip on high for about two minutes. Makes 3 cups and keeps 2 weeks in fridge.
